World University of Design, Haryana
World University of Design (WUD), established in 2018 at Rajiv
Gandhi Education City, Sonipat (Delhi NCR), is a university dedicated to education
and research in the creative disciplines. Established under the Haryana Private
University Act, 2006, WUD is empowered to confer degrees under Sections 2(f) and 22
of the UGC Act. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral
programs across Architecture, Design, Fashion & Textile, Communication, Visual Arts,
Performing Arts, and Business & Management. Within this framework, textiles and
fashion form a significant area of academic engagement, with a focus on both
design-led and technology-oriented approaches.
Teaching and research activities at WUD span areas relevant to contemporary
developments in textiles and clothing, including functional apparel, sustainable and
circular materials, smart textiles, and digital design processes. The university
encourages interdisciplinary work across domains, enabling integration of materials,
design innovation, and user-centred approaches. Areas such as performance clothing,
craft-based textile systems, and emerging applications in wearable technologies form
part of ongoing academic and research initiatives.
WUD maintains academic and research collaborations with a number of national and
international institutions, facilitating student exchange, joint projects, and
knowledge-sharing initiatives. The university publishes the Journal of Art,
Architecture & Design (JAARD) and actively engages in conferences, exhibitions, and
industry-linked projects. Through its academic and research activities, WUD seeks to
contribute to evolving areas of textiles and clothing, with particular attention to
sustainability, innovation, and interdisciplinary practice
